The
tradition of creating handcrafted cotton durries at
Shreevaas Exports goes a very long way. The family was
first associated with manufacturing of durries in the
early 19th century with Pandit Champa Lal Ji Tiwari who
was awarded the titles of Rai Bahadur and Rai Saheb by
the British Raj and was the Jailer in the Nucklow Jail
(Now called Lucknow In Utter Pradesh). This was the time
when the best durries in India were made in Jails by the
inmates. He developed a keen passion for them that has
been carried on by the third generation of the family
till today.
At
Shreevaas Exports, we work directly with the actual
craftsmen and do not employ any kind of middleman. We
try and give maximum profits to our weavers so that they
get value for the hard work they put in and become more
self sufficient and strong which is the only way this
art is going to last. |
We have had the pleasure of working with some of the
best clients in Europe and America. We have also made
durries for the Amir Of Qatar who recently has made a
new palace in Doha.
Our products are of high quality with reasonable pricing
structure. We use 100% vegetable dies to make the
products Eco-friendly and do not involve child labor in
our work. |
The
Dhurries are magnificent in look and comfortable in use.
Their charm lies in the simple treatment of decorative
details, and the principles of symmetry and endless
repetition. |
